This coming Sunday’s food drive item: Canned tuna

You can help feed the needy in our area this Lent by participating in the St. Elia Lenten Food Drive, a ministry of our parish service group, the Workers of St. Elizabeth.

fooddrive_miniThis week’s food drive item is canned tuna.

All food items collected will be donated to the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank. The Foodbank lists its “Super Six” most needed items as: boxed cereal, peanut butter, canned tuna, canned vegetables, canned beef stew and canned soup. Other food items welcome are canned meats, canned fruit, canned meals (such as stew and chili), condiments and dressings, and dried pasta, rice and beans.

While any food items can be brought in anytime, we are making a special push during each of the six weeks of Lent to collect as much as possible of one of the “Super Six” items.

Look for the bin located near the entrance of church, and drop off your food items as you come in each week. Thank you for doing your part to help those in need!
