Announcing the St. Elia the Prophet Orthodox Church Spring Bake Sale & How You Can Help!

The St. Elia the Prophet Orthodox Church Spring Bake Sale will take place April 7, 2012, and we’ve got a lot to do to get ready! Wondering how you can help?

Monetary and ingredient donations are now being accepted. Please see the ingredient list below. Ingredients should be brought to the church within the next two weeks and monetary donations should be mailed to:

Ingredients Needed:

  • Unbleached Flour: 200 lbs.
  • Shelled Walnuts: 50 lbs.
  • Granulated Sugar: 75 lbs.
  • White Raisins: 30 boxes
  • Confectionery Sugar: 20 lbs.
  • Yeast: Two 1 lb. compressed bags
  • Vegetable Oil: 3 gallons
  • Apricot Filling: 5 sleeves (RSVP)
  • Crisco: One 6 lb. can
  • Oranges: at least 40
  • Unsalted Butter: 20 lbs.
  • Lemons: at least 12
  • Cinnamon: 1 large 18 oz. container
  • Almond Extract: 1 large jar
  • Cupcake Containers: 1,000 (RSVP)
  • Plastic Storage Bags (for breads): 300, at least the 16×12 size
  • Commercial Size Saran Wrap
  • Commercial Size Aluminum Foil

Learning the bake sale ropes!

You can also help by attending the baking workshops. It’s not only a way to help, but also a way to enjoy fellowship! Help us make the delicious braided Pascha breads, braided raisin Pascha breads, baklava, nut kifli, and apricot kifli.

Pascha Bread Workshops:

Baking starts at 9:00 a.m.
Wrapping breads and clean up starts at 6:00 p.m.

Baklava will be made on Saturdays—DATES TO BE ANNOUNCED

Order forms will be available soon. Stay tuned to the web site for more information. Orders will be ready for pick-up on Friday, April 6, after 4 p.m. and in the church hall on Saturday, April 7, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
