Bishop Alexander pays visit to St. Elia

Bishop Alexander celebrating Divine Liturgy

His Grace Alexander, Bishop of Toledo/Bulgarian Diocese, celebrating Divine Liturgy at St. Elia on Sunday, Nov. 11.

Our St. Elia parish family warmly welcomed his grace, our Bishop Alexander, on the weekend of Nov. 11 for his first visit to our parish since his consecration to the episcopacy in May.

Bishop Alexander’s visit began with Great Vespers Saturday evening followed by an informal get-together with members of our parish at a local restaurant. A joyful Sunday morning Divine Liturgy was followed by a Charity Thanksgiving Dinner with turkey and all the trimmings, prepared by the ladies of our Sisterhood of St. Juliana.

$600 was raised from the Charity Dinner which will be distributed to Fr. Michael Mihalick, who is in the last stages of multiple sclerosis with congestive heart failure and is cared for by his wife Matushka Janet; and for the Philoxenia House, which is sponsored by St. Cosmas and Damian Greek Orthodox Church  in Rochester, Minn., for patients and their families who are at the Mayo Clinic.

A big thanks to the choir and Subdeacon Terry Bilas, our Church School children who recited a poem to our bishop, the altar servers, Rosemarie Vronick (our Thanksgiving chef), President Sandy Graham and the rest of the Sisterhood of St. Juliana, the Parish Council, and to all of our parish family for your support!
